Samsung India has received an impressive response for its latest foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5. The company announced that within the first 28 hours of opening pre-bookings on July 27, 2023, they secured 1 lakh pre-bookings for these ultra-premium devices. This is a significant increase compared to the previous generation foldables, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4, with 1.7 times more pre-bookings for the new models.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 comes with different storage options, ranging from 256GB to 1TB, and is priced between Rs. 1,54,000 lakh and Rs. 1,85,000 lakh. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 falls within the price range of Rs. 99,999 and Rs. 1,09,999.

Market Analysis
Market analysis by Techarc estimates that foldable smartphones, including both flip and traditional designs, will contribute around 1.8 percent of the total smartphone revenues for 2023. While this suggests that over 6.35 lakh foldable smartphones will be sold in India during the year, it’s expected to make up less than 0.5 percent of the total sales by volume for the same period.
